Most romantic films #38: To Catch a Thief (1955)

Grant, Kelly, Hitchcock and Monaco. Of course it’s romantic!

This is of course the classic Hitchcock caper of mysterious man meets curious and beautiful girl in the midst of chaos and killing. Wham!

Beautiful locations, elegant clothes (by Edith Head) and a witty and thrilling screenplay. Love scenes with fireworks–literally!

My favorite element is Jessie Royce Landis as Kelly’s mother. A great character actress, she is a tough, funny broad here. Lovely work.
